The best time to visit Casa Oropéndola completely depends on what you want to see. While the Sierra Nevada region is beautiful year round, your experience will differ greatly depending on the month you arrive:
December – January • Migratory birds arrive for prime birdwatching.
November – March • Dry weather and coffee harvesting.
April – October • The mountain is verdant and the cloud forest is at its best. Mornings are dry, rains between 1pm-5pm, and breathtaking sunsets. Highest precipitation in May & October (10-50mm/day)
Since the house is completely surrounded by nature, guests should expect to see amazing birds, butterflies, and even monkeys and deer. Although the house is fumigated and maintained, there are also small and curious insects and spiders that come from the jungle. Make sure to keep windows closed if no one is in the room, and let the staff know if you need any assistance.
Due to the remote location of the house, cellphone signal and satellite Internet connections are weak, and can be unreliable.
